Insomniac Radio: All Eyes On Me
I’m an insomniac.
Been one for years. There are periods of time where I want to sleep but some level of executive dysfunction keeps my body from shutting down. I become too tired to write, read, or even think clearly. I usually go on image searches in a half-cognizant stupor, and sometimes I find stuff on the interwebs that is a little more video and a lot more audio.
Some of that stuff ends up being, well, good. Some of it is even great. I’ll stick something on repeat for hours or days while working on whatever I have to work on, using the familiarity of someone else’s created excellence to push my own forward.
And now I’ve decided to share some of what I’ve found. When something crops up and my waking mind thinks it’s cool, I’ll share it here.
Today’s song is All Eyes On Me. Spread the word.
Why is this cool? The song is a sort of old-timey night lounge style single sung by a literal fallen angel who fell due to a lack of spotlight. The song is about her reclaiming what she was, and how that process transformed her; it’s upbeat, cute, and has an edge of pointed madness to go along with the catchy lyrics and tune. You get a sense of her fury and her drive to singing and performance, a hint of the lack of respect she’s been given. Also, the dance motions look good – the singer moves and feels like a real person, overly expressive face aside. There’s a sense of weight to her that is only accentuated by the presence of her chibi backup singers.
I love stuff like this.
The animation is by Puccagarkiss, the song is by Or3o, and this version of it is by Victor McKnight and SquigglyDigg. You can learn more about those fine people by clicking on their names.
Good listening, peoples. Enjoy.
